About Us
In a recent project in my Trigonometry class, we were researching the two steel Puerto Rican flags on Division. The only information we could find was on Wikipedia and a site that discussed the documentary Flags of Steel. “How are people supposed to learn about the flags?” Was a common question my students asked. I had to pause for a moment and realize the tecnological era I was standing in. Most people, nowadays, search for information via internet.
We were motivated to dedicate a site to the flags that we pass underneath everyday. Being a math teacher, I am intrigued by the numbers that surround the important monuments.
The history of the flags is something our school (Dr. Pedro Albizu Campos High School) focuses on, as well as the importance of Dr. Pedro Albizu Campos and the Independence of Puerto Rico. The two monuments are perfect for studying mathematics, because of the rich numbers and measurements.
Each year we will add to this site, discussing new math problems and rich historical discussions.
